WC Draw, Maribor qualifies in Euro League, MATAVŽ TO PSV and much more :)
So yeah. I’m sorry. I was in Africa and I couldn’t write a post. Anyways. First I have to tell you we got a good looking draw for qualifications for World Cup 2014
Next thing is something really really BIG! Maribor qualified into Euro League! No, I’m not kidding! We’ll be finally watching a Slovenian club in Euro League. Slovenia drew against Belgium(friendly). Slovenia is slowly falling lower and lower in FIFA rankings. In just one week we play against Estonia and we are everything but ready to face them. But I’ll tell you all of the above in a longer version below. The titles will be bold so whatever you want to read just find it and enjoy!
(Well, I really wanted to upload a picture of a hippo from Africa to show you why I ditched you guys for so long-HE WOULDN’T MOVE OKEY???-and apparently he is too heavy to upload-.-I’m sorry)
World Cup Qualifications Draw
I won’t bore you with what could’ve been, I’ll just tell you what happened.
Ronaldo pulled our the letter E for us. And from now on I hope E is our lucky letter. Let’s see what it brought to us this time:
Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Albania, Cyprus and Iceland.
It could’ve been way, way worse so I’m very glad with our draw. Let’s see other groups:
A
Croatia, Serbia, Belgium, Scotland, FYR Macedonia and Wales.
B
Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Armenia and Malta.
C
Germany, Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Austria, Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan.
D
Netherlands, Turkey, Hungary, Romania, Estonia and Andorra.
E
Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Albania, Cyprus and Iceland.
F
Portugal, Russia, Israel, Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.
G
Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lithuania, Latvia and Liechtenstein.
H
England, Montenegro, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova and San Marino.
I
Spain, France, Belarus, Georgia and Finland.
So. We could had gotten any country except the second ones in the line. What do you think? Did we get an easy group or are we over even before we start playing?
Maribor qualifies to Euro League
Today (25th of August) was a historical day for Slovenia. We finally got to qualify into Euro League. Once we qualified(with the same club) into CL, but those were different times. Now we are glad with this result. (For now
)
So yes…There was a draw for Europa League the next day. And sadly our Maribor wasn’t very lucky. They ended in the group H with Birmingham, Braga and Brugge.
Well we’ll hope for the best, but right now we have to focus on our national team.
(Sorry about no pictures post but I just can’t find them!!! ARGHHH!)
Yes, before I start boring you about how low we fell and how scared I am, I have to tell you another great news
TIM MATAVŽ IS NOW OFFICIALLY IN PSV Eindhoven!

Make me proud, boy. I haven’t been writing all those posts about you for nothing, have I?
So yeah…PSV payed 7 million € to Groningen. Matavž signed for 5 years. Let’s all wish him luck, please
The only more expensive Slovenian player in the history was Zlatko Zahović so we should be very proud of this boy. We are about to watch big things from this kid(only 22 years old).
Moving on. Well as you noticed this blog wasn’t posted on the day I wrote it so I won’t bore you about our weaknesses, I’ll rather do that in my next blog and preview for our Euro qualifications game on Friday(I’m going, I’m going!
Many, many pictures to come :p)
So now I’ll leave you to celebrate this lovely news(or not so lovely) and in a day there’ll be one other post, this time about Estonia and how Slovenia doesn’t want to accept the fact that we need young players!
Hope you’re fine. I had a great time and from now on I’ll be in touch with you every single week. We have a lot to talk about!
Have fun and root on!
